View Full Version : Hello...
Kirsty 26-04-2006, 04:41 AM Yes, you guessed right - I'm new!
I thought I might join this wonderful forum to hopefully help me in learning the language but also more about the culture. I will be travelling back to Czech in July for the second time and am looking forward to experiencing summer there.
I'm from Sydney, Australia and Czech Republic is my favourite holiday destination - however this time round I hope to be having a chat to the locals in their language :blabla:
Looking forward to having a chat to you all...
Kirsty
Thheizz 26-04-2006, 09:15 AM Welcome Kirsty,
Learning Czech... That's not easy though! But it's great to see a new member around who loves Czech; culture and language...
Where you'll go in July?
Hope to see you around (although we have a bit of a time difference)
Kirsty 26-04-2006, 01:05 PM :) Thanks for the welcome Thheizz...
I'm loving this forum and all the information and experiences it offers.
I agree, the language is far from easy to learn however I do know the basics like the Greetings/First Encounters/Where Is..? and enough to get by but I aim to fluently speak Czech.
So I am leaving in July and my first stop will be a week in Prague (staying in the centre) then a week in Teplice, a week in Frydek Mystek, perhaps a few days in Brno but i will have to see if time allows it and then back to Prague for the final week and home again. But it should be lovely... I cant wait to get back there!!
Yes there is quite a time difference, but we'll have the chance to chat occasionally.
Kirsty
Thheizz 27-04-2006, 11:15 AM Well, I admire your trying..... I really do!
July is a nice time to be in Czech, mostly nice weather and not the most busy period, august is a lot busier. It looks like you'll stay quite a long time in Czech, don't you? Normally I would defeat you; Normally I’m around 7-8 weeks in Czech in Summer. This year though I won't be that much. I hope to be there 5 weeks.... Ah, the summer..... I'm also looking forward to it!
Tomaszewski 28-04-2006, 10:43 AM I'm glad to hear you will spend some time in Brno! It's a lovely city, not as busy as Prague and even nicer (it's my hometown, so please excuse the boastfulness...:eyebrows: )
Kirsty 28-04-2006, 01:10 PM Thank you to the both of you for the warm welcome.
Tomaszewski, you are allowed to be boastful of your home town and with good reason, I spent a wonderful week there two years ago and I absolutely loved it!
But I must say I do really have a soft spot for Prague.... I live in Sydney, Australia so it does kind of remind me of home just a European version :)
I wouldnt mind actually living in Czech for say a year or two so I must look into it when I am there.
Thheizz your going back to Czech this summer coming??
Well it's Friday night here so I wish you both a lovely weekend and look forward to chatting to you both again...
Kirsty
Thheizz 28-04-2006, 01:20 PM I'm in total around (max) 3 months a year in Czech. So yes, this summer i'm in Czech.
Thheizz 28-04-2006, 01:26 PM P.S. It's 13.20, so just had my midday coffee.....
Kirsty 29-04-2006, 01:19 AM Three months a year - that's lovely! I'm jealous ;)
Well good news is... I recieved my ticket today so I will be departing July 25 - I am counting down the days!!
Thheizz 29-04-2006, 12:31 PM Haha, don't be. You don't know what i'm doing there. :)
I like it though.
Kirsty 30-04-2006, 01:15 AM Haha.... well you cant leave me hanging like that! Please do share.... ofcourse only if you want to...what does take you there for three months then? I'm guessing work...:suspicious:
Thheizz 30-04-2006, 11:49 AM Work; Yes and No.
First of all I try to have my holidays there. So Christmas and New year you can find me there. Next to that I mostly go skiing for one week. And then there is the summer. Within these holidays I’m always busy with all kind of things. Helping he Local campsite and busy with investments etc. That’s a kind of work for me….
Kirsty 02-05-2006, 02:28 AM Work sounds like it does keep yourself very very busy - however if your managing to still take some time out and enjoy then that is the important thing.
:lol Well I attempted to go skiing - let me just say 'It didnt work out'
I am sure I will enjoy the summer however... It is getting into Winter here in Australia, getting cooler and cooler so I look for to escaping it shortly!
