The departure of Germans from the Sudetenland after WW2 is well known and documented. However, I recently heard of a mass departure of Czechs from the area sometime after 1938. I have heard two explanations for this:-

(a) They were fearful of how life would be following the German arrival.

(b) These were people who had come to the area in 1919; the Germans put pressure on them to leave.

I don't think there was any kind of forced deportation and I have heard that they were able to sell their property and take away all their belongings. However, I have been unable to find any historical reference to this. Can someone pse provide information from a historical source?

Comments greatly appreciated ...
