Hi!
Im a Swedish guy who is studying Network Administration and System Technique at university. It is rather hard to find jobs in IT in sweden at the moment, but i have seen lots of ads with jobs in IT in Prague and Brno.

I am wondering if 25000-35000 koruna is a good salary, i saw that most IT-jobs has this salary. It is like 7000-10.000 swedish krona, that is poor salary in Sweden. But it depends on how much things costs in Czech, can you live nice for that money in Prague? Can you afford to rent a apartment, to have good food for it? Even maybe save some of it?

Im just wondering, because it would be nice to get a work in a beautiful city outside of Sweden so you get some "working experience". Is it hard to find a good room to live it? Maybe with a small kitchen, lets say in Prague or Brno.

Hope you can help me
Dan, from Sweden

Hi, I am from America and work in IT in Brno. I can tell what it costs in Brno. Prague is much more expensive. Students here can live on almost nothing it seems. But if your coming from a Western country and expect to travel, go to pubs and restaurants a few times per week, eat good food at home (not wonder if you can afford chicken and eat rice and potatoes instead), have a place with a laundry machine, quiet safe neighbors, live by yourself or with one roomate, in a decent neigborhood close to the center. I think you should have at very least 35000 - 40000. If you have any debts back home, then you need to add that to the cost. Furnished apartments in Brno cost about 5000 kc - 7000 per month + 800 - 1000 for utilities, + internet is 700 - 1200. You can get by for cheaper, but then prepare to feel like "what am doing here, I could be living much better back home?" if you take less. Furnished apartments can be hard to find. My girlfriend is moving back to the USA, so contact me soon if your coming to Brno, I have an extra room in three weeks. I used to go to school in Karlstad Sweden, have many good friends there. I can also help you get into IBM as a Network/System Admin (phone support specialist) if your interested.
