Children, Parents, Visas and Schengen Experiences

I am an American and a parent of a child who is both Czech and America. Both mother of the child and I agreed that marriage was not wanted. But we still agree on being a family. Is there a visa that applies for this situation or is there anyone who has similar situation. Please describe your experiences.
