Anyone Hear Of...

A Czech teaching book called "Colloquial Czech"?

I was browsing Amazon and saw that.

If that is not a good choice...if anyone could point me in the direction of a better self-teaching Czech book...I would appreciate it...

...I'm really wanting to learn Czech...

Re: Anyone Hear Of...

I found an revieuw, with as conclusion:

[ QUOTE ]
Colloquial Czech has shortcomings, but they can be rectified by adding material. What is there provides a solid base for learning Czech that will benefit all beginning learners, as well as those in need of a brush-up and those looking for some structure for Czech learnt on the fly. If you fall into one of these categories, this new edition will meet your needs in an economical and friendly format. What more can you ask?

Whole revieuw can be found at: http://www.ce-review.org/99/13/books13_bermel.html

So it don't look bad, specially for 22 dollar.

More books about learning czech can also be found at: http://languagenetwork.tripod.com/czech.htm

Re: Anyone Hear Of...

When I came to the Czech Republic I had also big plans to study Czech. For sure it is difficult to find a Dutch book (in my case) to learn Czech, but I found here in the Czech Republic an English book how to learn Czech.

Below the information:

Titel: Do you want to speak Czech?
Writers: Elga Cechova, Helena Trabelsiova, Harry Putz
Sazba: Pantype Liberec
Vytiskla: Severografie Most
ISBN: 80-902165-1-X

Maybe it's interesting, and maybe there will be even some info on the internet.

Re: Anyone Hear Of...

another good one is `communicative Czech`. don`t ask me who wrote it. although it would be better to use that book together with a teacher. it does not really elaborate on the grammar, which is as you probably already know a pain in the ****.
